Why go
Koh Rok is the snorkelling day you take from Koh Lanta: two islands well out to sea, part of the Mu Ko Lanta national park, usually visited together with Koh Haa. It is a long day on a speedboat, not a short hop.
What you will find
Two islands side by side with a narrow channel between them. OpenStreetMap names them Rok Yai and Rok Noi; you will also see them called Rok Nai and Rok Nok, and we have not confirmed which name matches which island.
Getting there
By speedboat, on a day trip that usually leaves from Koh Lanta and often adds Koh Haa. From Krabi or Ao Nang, the first step is getting to Koh Lanta.
Before you go
Koh Rok is closed from 1 June to 30 September in the national parks department's current schedule, which is set each year. Many sites say May to October or November: that is the stretch when boats rarely go in practice, not the official closure. Trips run mostly from November to April or May.
Koh Haa, paired with Koh Rok on most trips, has its own closure dates: ask the operator whether both are open on your date.
Whether the national park fee is in the tour price varies from one trip to another: ask before you book, and carry cash.
