This is the slow way to the Hong Islands. A longtail takes longer than a speedboat over the open water northwest of Ao Nang, and the day is listed at seven hours, but kayaking is written into the tour itself rather than offered as an alternative.
The operator names Koh Hong, its natural lagoon, a mangrove forest, kayaking and a panoramic view of the sea, without saying where the view is from; Koh Hong's own viewpoint sits at the top of a long staircase with no shade. Lunch is included, as the title says.
Choose this over the speedboat tour if you want to paddle and do not mind a slower, noisier boat. Choose the speedboat if you would rather spend less time crossing; it is listed at six hours, though its description also says seven, so do not count on a shorter day. Either way the lagoon is shallow at low tide, so the tide shapes what you see.
Stop 1 of 3
The island of the Hong group with an enclosed lagoon, and the destination of the day.
Stop 2 of 3
The pool almost closed in by the island's cliffs; shallow at low tide.
Stop 3 of 3
Named by the operator, without saying whether you see it from the kayak or the boat.
01
The kayak is in the tour's title, not an option you may or may not get.
02
Both are named by the operator as part of the day.
03
Lunch is part of the tour, as its title says.
The longtail day is listed at seven hours and includes kayaking. The speedboat day is listed at six hours (its description also says seven) and offers the viewpoint or kayaking. If paddling matters to you, take this one; if time on the boat does, take the speedboat.
Not always. At low tide the lagoon is shallow, and the tide on the day decides how you see it.
The listing does not say. The Hong Islands belong to Than Bok Khorani National Park, whose fee is usually paid in cash on the day: check the booking page before you pay.
