Klong Muang Beach
A quiet resort beach west of Ao Nang, rocky at low tide: better for a calm stay than for a busy beach day.
Access
By road
Time to allow
Half a day, or a quiet stay
Best time
At high tide, for swimming
Why go
Klong Muang suits people who want to sleep away from the bustle of Ao Nang and do not mind having fewer restaurants and shops within walking distance. If you want to step out of your hotel into a busy town, stay in Ao Nang.
What you will find
A beach of about a kilometre and a half, described as very calm, with resorts behind it. At low tide rocks show along the shore, and the swimming is better at high tide.
Getting there
By road from Ao Nang, along the coast past Nopparat Thara.
Before you go
Check the tide before you plan a swim: at low tide the rocks along the shore make getting into the water awkward.
In the monsoon months, if a red flag is up, stay out of the sea.
