Nopparat Thara Pier

Ao Nang's ferry pier: the boats for Phi Phi, Lanta, Phuket and Koh Yao leave from here, not from the beach.

Access

Time to allow

Only to catch a boat

Best time

On a calm day; in the monsoon, fewer boats run

Why go

If your ferry is "from Ao Nang", it almost certainly leaves from here. The longtails for Railay and many island tours go from Ao Nang Beach itself; the ferries and speedboats to other islands use this pier.

What you will find

The main pier for ferries and speedboats from Ao Nang, at Nopparat Thara, west of the town beach. Boats leave for Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Phuket and Koh Yao.

The Phi Phi boats run all year, with fewer departures in the low season; some also call at Railay East. Most boats to Koh Lanta run from November to April only, and sources disagree on whether any run all year.

Getting there

By road from Ao Nang and Krabi Town.

Before you go

Boats are cancelled when the sea is rough, especially during the southwest monsoon. Keep a spare day before a flight if you are coming back from an island.

Timetables vary with the operator and the season: check yours with the operator rather than with an old listing online.
