Phi Phi is a different day from the islands off Ao Nang: the crossing is longer and in open water, so it is done by speedboat. This tour does it by speedboat in about seven and a half hours, one of the shortest of the Phi Phi days we list.
The stops named by the operator are Maya Bay and the Viking Cave, with a stop to snorkel and a buffet lunch in between. Maya Bay has rules of its own: no swimming, a landing at Loh Samah on the far side of the island rather than on the beach, and a closure every year from 1 August to 30 September, when Phi Phi tours keep running without landing there.
What you give up for the shorter day is the end of it. The listing names no sunset, no Bamboo Island and no second set of islands on the way home. If you want Phi Phi without spending the whole day on a boat, that is the point; if you want the most out of a long day, the sunset tours suit you better.
Stop 1 of 3
The bay from the film The Beach. You walk in from the pier at Loh Samah and can paddle at the edge, but swimming is not allowed.
Stop 2 of 3
A cave on Koh Phi Phi Leh where prized edible swiftlet nests are harvested.
Stop 3 of 3
The operator lists a stop to snorkel without naming the spot; where the boat stops can depend on the sea that day.
01
About seven and a half hours, against nine or more for the early-bird and sunset Phi Phi tours we list.
02
Phi Phi is out in open water; a fast boat is what makes the round trip fit in a day.
03
Lunch is included, as the tour's title says.
No. Swimming is banned at Maya Bay. Boats no longer enter the bay: you land at a pier at Loh Samah, on the other side of the island, and walk to the beach on a boardwalk. The bay also closes every year from 1 August to 30 September; tours keep running in those months, without landing there.
It is shorter and simpler than the sunset and early-bird tours. The sunset tours add more stops and stay out into the evening, and the early-bird tour is built around an early start. This one is the regular daytime day.
No, and no tour should: Mosquito Island (Ko Yung) is closed by the national park, with no reopening date announced. A listing that still promises it is out of date.
Phi Phi is out in open water, further than the islands off Ao Nang, and in the rainy season the crossing is rougher. Trips still run in the low season, but whether a given day goes ahead depends on the sea, and the operator can cancel when it is up.
